DownloadThis year’s conference will feature posters and presentations, round table conversations and plenaries, a three-minute thesis competition with prizes, and plenty of social opportunities for connecting with Honors students, faculty, and staff from across the region.
Conference registration is $80 per person. To register, click here or visit loras.edu/ecommerce and select “UMHC Conference Registration.”
An optional Saturday evening outing to the hockey arena to watch the Dubuque Fighting Saints take on the Chicago Steel is available with conference registration at a discounted group rate of $10 per person.
This year’s conference theme, Passion Meets Purpose, explores the role of vocational exploration through community service in higher education and beyond. Proposals that directly engage this theme are encouraged but not required for acceptance.
Students, faculty, and staff may submit proposals of academic or creative work for individual presentations, poster presentations, panel discussions, roundtable discussions, or the three-minute thesis competition.
To submit a proposal, complete the online proposal submission form at https://forms.gle/oaWaw5MFK9cR1x2q8 on or before Monday, February 12, 2024.
Presenters will be notified of acceptance by February 26, 2024.
Rooms may be reserved at historic Hotel Julien (200 Main Street, Dubuque) at the conference rate of $165 per night. A private breakfast for UMHC attendees is included but seats must be reserved when booking reservations.

For schools who seek financial assistance to offset their travel costs to the annual conference, UHMC sponsors a modest grant program to assist student delegations. Please submit the application below by MARCH 1.

DownloadIn the spring of 2022, the Upper Midwest Honors Council voted to make available limited funding to aid schools in offsetting travel costs associated with the annual conference each spring. Applications will be evaluated by members of the Executive Board and funding is capped at $250 per institution.
Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
1. Size of available honors budget/funding
2. Distance from your institution to the host site
3. Number of students benefited from the award
