Join Us in Iowa for UMHC 2023!

Greetings, Honorable Friends!

We’d like to invite you to join us this spring for the Upper Midwest Regional Honors Conference at the campus of Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny, Iowa!

The conference will run from March 30th to April 1st, and it will feature student and faculty presentations, roundtables, and poster sessions. There will also be opportunities for social interaction and networking with other Honors students, faculty, and staff from across the region.

The cost of registration is $80 per person. To register for the conference:

We’d also like to invite students, faculty, or staff to submit a proposal to present at the conference. Presentation options include individual presentations of academic or creative work, poster presentations, panel discussions, or interactive roundtable discussions.

This year’s UMHC conference theme—”Striking a Balance”—explores the challenges that Honors Students (and faculty!) face trying to keep everything in their hectic and high-achieving lives perfectly in balance. Proposals that engage this conference theme—however you interpret it—are certainly welcome, but by no means required.

To submit a proposal for the conference:

The deadline for proposal submissions for UMHC 2023 is Friday, March 8, 2023. Presenters will be notified of their acceptance by March 17, 2023. Information about accommodations, applications for travel subsidies, and directions to DMACC is copied below.

If you have any questions about the conference, please don’t hesitate to contact UMHC 2023 Steering Committee member Dan Platt at djplatt1@dmacc.edu (or 515-414-4580) or Student Conference Coordinator Kylee Thilges at kathilges1@dmacc.edu.

We wish you all a pleasant winter break, and we look forward to seeing you at DMACC in March!

All the best,

Laurie
